FS2002 Bora Bora Hotels and Town, Island of Bora Bora, French Polynesia
By: Bill Melichar, and John de Langristin

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Desciption:

This scenery adds on 4 luxury resort hotels, and the main town of Vaitape in their approximate locations on the island of Bora Bora. It provides all kinds of eye candy, and each area also has night lighting. The areas are scattered around the island, and can be seen nicely by going around the island in a boat, then exploring them closer by driving around in a car. I included John de Langristin, since he provided me with most of the boats, and all of the Bamboo structures to make this scenery a reality!

Installation:

1. Extract file directly into your main FS2002 scenedb folder, or into a temporary folder, and then move the Bora hotel folder into the scenedb folder, which ever method you prefer.

2. Start up FS2002 then go to the World tab and click, then go down to Scenery Library and click, then to Add Area. Find the scenedb folder and open it, then find the Bora hotel folder and click on it. The name Bora Hotel should now appear in the title window, then click OK. The name Bora hotel should now appear at the top of your Scenery Library list, then click the OK tab at the bottom, and the scenery will begin to install. That's it!
Enjoy your vacation in Bora Bora.

3. It is recommended that you exit FS and restart before using any new scenery area, so that it has a chance to boot properly.

Notes:

This scenery will be my last in the French Polynesia area. In order for this scenery to work correctly you must have the recommended terrain mesh for this area described below. It should work fine on the FS defaut terrain, with the exception of the Tahitian villages on the hill sides at Vaitape. This scenery contains four luxury resorts mainly on the other side of the mountain from the airport, where you can also find the main town of Bora Bora which is Vaitape. Sail boats out in the water will signal you to a resort on the shore. When you arrive at the Bora Bora airport, you are actually taken aboard a boat which takes you to the town of Vaitape, and from there you go to your respective hotels. Some of the hotels have their own shuttle boats which take you directly to the hotel, such as the Pearl Beach resort which is the first hotel to the southwest of the airport, and is located out on a motu, (Polynesian for atoll). The four luxury resorts were modeled from actual resorts in thier locations, but in some instances do not resemble the actual hotel. They are the Meridian, Hotel Bora Bora, Blue Lagoon Resort, and the Pearl Beach Resort which is one of the newest and largest five star hotels, and is built out on a motu, as is the Meridian.
This scenery works fine in conjunction with the Bora Bora airport scenery which I did.

Recommendations:

Terrain Mesh:
The only terrain mesh scenery that I have found suitable, and does not conflict with my scenery areas, and is in fact necessay to get my last two areas of French Polynesia to show up as they were designed, which is Maupiti and this one, is by Rolf Keibel and John Applegate. It is under the name FrenchPolynesia.zip and is available at Simviation.com only, as far as I know. It was designed for Combatsim2, but I get excellent results with it in FS2002.

Water Textures:
As I've said before, if you dont have oceanstx.zip by Ed Thruthan installed in your FS2002 you don't know what you're missing, especially in tropical waters.

Credits:

John de Langristin who I consider a full partner for this scenery due to the fantastic bamboo and boat macros he designed, and the overwater bungalows with which I could not have done this scenery. John is one of the greatest aids to scenery designers everywhere, and without all the great macros he produces, it would sure make it very tough to turn this stuff out. He is also an accomplished scenery designer in his own right!

Once again I have to give credit to Gerd Winterfeld and Richard Powell for their coconut trees, and tropical trees respectively. Without these woderful trees, the tropical areas of the world just wouldn't really look tropical.
